  • Mesa Power Places 1,000-MW Wind Turbine Order with GE

    Mesa Power LLP, a company created by legendary energy executive T. Boone Pickens, has placed an order with General Electric (GE) to purchase 667 wind turbines capable of generating a total of 1,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity. The agreement represents the first phase of the four-phase Pampa Wind Project that could become the world's largest wind energy project, with more than 4,000 MW of electricity.
  • SCHOTT Establishes Thin-film Company

    SCHOTT Solar has founded an independent company for its thin-film module business sector, SCHOTT Solar Thin Film GmbH. At its two locations in Jena and Putzbrunn near Munich, the new company will produce framed premium and standard modules, as well as OEM raw modules. Within the next few years, the annual production capacity is planned to expand to 100 megawatts (MW) from the current production capacity of 36 MW.
  • RES Gets 950-MW Construction Contract

    Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas) announced the company has been awarded the construction rights for five utility-scale wind projects with a total capacity of 954 megawatts (MW). The projects will be located in the Canadian province of Quebec and output will be sold to Hydro Quebec Distribution. The project will be managed by RES-Canada, an affiliate of RES-Americas.
  • Blackhawk Purchases Biodiesel Plant

    Blackhawk Biofuels, LLC announced it has completed the acquisition of assets of a 45-million-gallon-per-year biodiesel production facility under construction in Danville, Illinois from Biofuels Company of America, LLC. As part of the signed agreement, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG) is providing financing in the form of a convertible loan to Blackhawk.
  • Siemens Gets 500-MW Order from FPL
